Over the last 6 months, Hang Seng has supported the Hong Kong Science and Technology Park (HKSTP) Banking, Financial Services and Insurance (BFSI) Accelerator 2021 (the “Programme’). The Programme aims to nurture high-potential tech ventures and foster corporate innovation.
In June, Hang Seng selected 16 technology startups from over 200 companies for initial meeting and collected 130+ ingenious solutions. Following stages from orientation, online training to mentorship sessions, Hang Seng carried forward with 6 of them for ideation, scoping and PoC discussions.
Dennis Wong, Head of Information Technology of Hang Seng Indexes Company Limited, was invited as one of the guest panelists at the closing event. He shared his insights on what Hang Seng Indexes have anticipated for in innovative solutions and explained the importance of flexibility due to the sophisticated nature of the financial sector. In order to comply with complex governances and to enable successful implementation, it takes time and mutual effort for both the bank and fintech talents work together. He shared with fintech partners the importance of patience and persistence in this process of co-creation.
Riding the wave of Fintech and open banking initiatives, Hang Seng constantly aims to produce customer-centric services through exploring innovative solutions from tech talents. The FinTecubator team will continue to seek for progressive technology and foster FinTech innovation development in Hang Seng.
